Allow me to intoduce myself. My name is Greg Brown and I am honored to serve as your Georgia State Chapter President. I joined the NWTF in 1985 and have been affiliated with several local chapters. I have been a member of the Flint River Chapter, Banquet chairman of the Turkey Oak Strutters, and have been the President of the Boss Gobbler Chapter in Butler since we formed it four years ago. I began serving on the State Board in 2003 and have served as State Secretary and most recently as State Vice President. I look forward to serving as President for the next two years.
We have a lot to be proud of here in Georgia. We rank in the top 5 State Chapters in all major catagories that the NWTF ranks. In the southeast, Georgia stands tall as to the amount of superfund dollars raised; since 1985, we here in Georgia have raised over $3,549,269.00 for projects in Georgia. In 2008 alone, we put over $155,000 in projects all over the state. A sampling of these projects is provided and can be found under the Super Fund heading.
I trust that you feel the same pride that I do with the role that Georgia has played in the formation of the NWTF. We hosted the first banquet in the country right here in Atlanta. Today, Georgia continues to play a key role in the NWTF with the new CEO, George Thornton, being from Georgia.
We continue to work with our volunteers, NWTF staff, and the Georgia DNR to lead the fight to preserve our hunting heritage and conservation of the greatest game bird-the wild turkey.
I hope you enjoy your visit to the site and either start or continue your membership and support to our efforts and I look forward to the great opportunity of serving the members and the outstanding NWTF chapters of this great State.
Respectfully, yours in Conservation
Greg Brown
